Upcoming survival MMO **Dune: Awakening ** will let players attempt to make it on their own on Arrakis, the most dangerous planet in the galaxy. The title comes from Funcom, a developer that's no stranger to the online multiplayer genre, with previous releases like Conan Exiles and Secret World Legends . Screen Rant recently attended a special event for the game hosted by Funcom's creative director Joel Bylos, which featured a premiere of a new trailer and a showcase segment delving into the game's developm

While it isn’t clear if working with the Harkonnens in Dune: Awakening is required, it does seem like building bases in the desert is a major part of the game. While I’m willing to suspend my disbelief for the sake of gameplay and ignore how unlikely that safely building such structures would be on Arrakis, I’m still not so enthusiastic about actually doing it. Being an outsider building bases on Arrakis feels very **counter-intuitive to the major anti-colonial message the Dune series communicates

Lastly, while your Arrakis guide will teach you a lot about what kind of things you can fabricate and craft using various resources. There are two main pieces of optional gear you'll want to craft early on: water carriers and suspens

While you are able to reset your skill-trees, you can't change your starting class once you've confirmed it , so to help you make an informed decision about the best starting class, take a look at my guide, Dune Awakening: What Class Should You Cho

Sandworms are unkillable goliaths that will pop out of the sand and swallow you whole. As you pass over large open sections of the desert, you'll notice a sand vibration meter that will show you how much noise you're creating. If you stay out in the open long enough, a sandworm will charge you, and dying to one means losing every item you're carry

Mentats are human computers capable of calculating data at superhuman speeds, and the class focuses on utilizing technologies to plan and strategize encounters, laying traps, exploiting enemy vulnerabilities, and more. The Order of Mentats is a "secretive and insular organization" from the established canon that is largely unrepresented or overlooked in most screen adaptations , making this class likely to be greatly appreciated by fans of the original nov

I recommend staying close to the rocks as much as possible, and when you need to cross open spaces, look for paths that don't leave you exposed for long periods of time. Avoid dashing or jumping, as it will create more noise and attract sandworms to your location much fas

While you can only wield a certain number of abilities at a time, you'll want to find trainers, NPCs who can give you quests that help unlock these skill trees. For example, you'll find one NPC at Griffin's Reach Tradepost who can teach you how to unlock the Trooper skill tree by hunting down various bounties across the desert of Arra

While most of Arrakis is a barren wasteland filled with scavenger camps and other locales to discover, there are also various settlements and trading outposts that are worth exploring. The first one you can discover in the starting area is called Griffin's Reach Tradepost, and has a merchant in addition to some other important N

Traversing across the sands can attract sandworms that will devour the player, taking all their gear, items, and - if nearby - their vehicles. Dune: Awakening 's sandworms devour and destroy everything, while standard deaths in conventional combat lead to minor losses. It not only helps realize the dangers of Arrakis, but ensures players are mindful of what they are carrying where. The demoist showed us a couple of vehicles players could use, all derived from the Dune franchise obviously, and losing them in such a vast world is no doubt a serious loss, alongside any high-level gear. Players could craft that gear again, but it requires finding the schematic, necessary materials, and so forth. Gaining anything in Dune: Awakening is an investment, and the sandworm can just wipe that all cl

As part of character creation, players will select a character to be their mentor. browse this site will determine their starting abilities, though they won't be forced to completely adhere to that chosen archetype permanently. As players level up over time, they'll be able to further tailor their character to a certain playstyle by learning new techniques from the Great Schools of the Imperium, but mentor choice can still greatly impact overall gameplay by setting the tone at the beginn

The only customization caveat is that things like armor will need to at least maintain their core appearance for the benefit of other players in a PvP context - players can change the color of heavy armor, for example, but not make it look like light armor. In a broader sense, players will also have a lot of say in the composition and aesthetic of their home base and how they choose to traverse the land. Transportation like ornithopters and groundcars will be at their disposal, and designing elaborate bases to then sell the blueprints is highly encoura
